Learning how to use the Breath to optimise your health
Did you know that the way we breathe has a direct impact on our health?
As we have evolved, human skull shape has narrowed our nasal passages and there has been a higher propensity for us to breathe through our mouths for an increased proportion of our lives, an action that has had a direct impact on our health.
By mouth breathing, rather than nose breathing, we reduce the amount of oxygen that we are able to absorb by our cells, why? Because breathing through our nose creates Nitric Oxide which is anti-bacterial, anti-viral and also supports the gas exchange at cellular level so we absorb more oxygen.
By mouth breathing, we stimulate the alarm receptors on the top of the lungs, that encourage shallow breaths, that send messages to the heart to beat faster. This puts tension on the heart. When we breathe through the nose and use the diaphragm it stimulates the calming receptors at the bottom of the lungs thus, creating a message of gentleness to the heart, reducing tension and allowing fear to subside.

A 1:1 Breathe-In session is for someone has a specific issue that they would like to discuss and deal with.
Specialities include Long Covid, work, relationship or lifestyle related stress, anxiety, removing blockages to proactivity, and supporting a change of thinking to find a pathway that is right for you to choose to move away from the issue in hand. Helping you get those things you can't get out of your head, out and gone.
The hour will include a element of coaching and practical solutions using the imagination to allow you to remove these thoughts from your brain.
All clients go away with specific techniques to practice for their health issue or problem, as well as some goal setting objectives for the time in between the sessions.
The client can also join in on the general Breathe-In class as many enjoy that group check in and learning other stuff too.

In Breathe-In classes we teach the foundations of breathing on a general level using a gentle and non-invasive technique called the Universal breath. We breathe in and out at the tempo of 6 seconds in, 6 seconds out, to a digital metronome.
Using breath, imagery, and colours, we encourage the brain to settle, the lungs to breathe easy and the body to reset.
